Summary of the Role: 

Responsible for overseeing cannabis cultivation operations, from seed to harvest. Ensure optimal growth, health, and quality of Maitri cannabis plants while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Programming and management of automated greenhouse irrigation systems
  • Conducting general flowering room maintenance and systems checklists
  • Monitoring and maintaining drip irrigation systems
  • Programming and management of Program Logic Control systems
  • Operating an auto transplanter.
  • Cleaning rooms, trays weekly, irrigation drip lines and systems
  • Operating conveyor systems, scales, industrial shredders and other cultivation equipment
  • Moving and mixing soil by hand or with bale breakers and a potting system.
  • Aiding in the harvest as needed.
  • Aiding in other departments where labor is needed.
  • Maintaining a clean working environment.
  • Working on scaffolding and ladders as well as tight spaces low and off the floor.
  • Collecting of environmental data and adjusting controlled environments for optimum plant health
  • Managing and reporting on plant health, soil moisture and environmental metrics
  • Managing Crop steering and air flow
  • Monitoring health of beneficial insects
  • Managing the integrated pest management (IPM) and quality control team.
  • Applying biological pest control such as beneficial insects.
  • Scouting for pest, pathogens or system abnormalities.
  • Coordinating with facilities manager on monthly facility health reports.
  • Working with the logistics and compliance teams.
  • Ensuring adherence to SOPs and Department of Health compliance standards
  • Maintaining inventory in track and trace software (MJ Freeway)
  • Ensuring compliance medical marijuana waste removal.
  • Application and understanding of medical cannabis regulations and laws.
  • Coordinating with other processing and extraction departments. 
  • Managing a large cultivation team
  • Managing the repopulation and flower room harvesting.
  • Managing nursery team and nursery plant health.
  • Providing direction to staff on canopy management
  • Training of staff on cultivation related SOP sets
  • Executing on direction from Director of Cultivation and Executive Team
  • Producing quarterly productivity reports.
  • Enrolling in continuing cultivation education programs provided by the company

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 3 years of management experience
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Capable of leading and directing tasks and teams
  • Capable of training staff on specific cultivation related tasks
  • High School diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED)
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Either: 5+ years in large-scaled horticulture management and 1+ years cultivating cannabis  or  3+ years in cannabis cultivation management
  • Plant science, horticultural, or botany degree, though extensive formal or informal cultivation experience is also accepted
  • Formal or informal horticultural cultivation cultivation with any flowering fruit varieties
  • Skilled with control and business management software

Physical and Environmental Requirements: 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   

  • Ability to work up to 10 hours a day and rotating shifts
  • Flexible schedule availability including nights, weekends and holidays   
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull 75 pounds   
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to work on scaffolding and ladders and in tight spaces
  • Ability to sit, squat, bend, and kneel repetitively throughout a workday   
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time   
  • Comfortable being under constant video surveillance 
  • Work environments that include exposure to, but not limited to fumes, dust, odors, heights, indoor AC, no AC, motion, and noise.   
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule including evenings/weekends/some holidays
